No 281       December 23

The poem that you loved yesterday,

Nearly didn’t make it,

After I’d shown it to Geoff,

I said “ don’t think they’ll like it”.

I’d tried to do it different,

And Christmas songs put in,

I studied it for ages,

Then threw it in the bin.

Then somehow I thought to myself,

It wasn’t really bad,

So I went and rescued it,

For that I’m really glad.

I could not believe the comments,

Your appreciation you did show,

I think it was a record,

Just shows you what I know.

It just makes me wonder,

How many have I discarded,

When you may have loved them,

From your comments I’d be delighted.

So in future I promise,

My poems I will not hide,

I’ll get Geoff to type them,

And let all of you decide.
