CELIA'S POEMS
No 337
February 15
I have a
friend called Shirley,
We’ve
been friends forever,
In fact
it’s such a long time
As we
went to school together.
Her
husband was called Ronald,
But we
all called him Ron,
He was
fit and ran the “Three Peaks”,
Should
have called him Run not Ron,
My son
organised a mini bus,
To
Halifax we did go,
It was
to see Shakin Stevens,
Jim knew
I loved him so,
Not long
after the show started,
Ron said
I’m going to the bar,
So he
hardly saw the show at all,
Just
wished they’d come by car.
When the
show was finished,
We all
went for a drink,
Jim saw
2 men loading Shakin’s bus,
Said to
Ron “What did you think”,
Well he
said I wasn’t keen,
My son
watched the 2 men,
He said
I really enjoyed the show,
And
pointed to one man again.
Ron said
“is that him then”,
Our Jim
said, if you’d stayed you would know,
Well Ron
ran over and shook the man’s hand,
And said
how much he enjoyed the show.
The man
looked on in amazement,
Ron saw
us near to tears,
He
called our Jim a few choice names,
This is
going to need some beers.
