CELIA'S POEMS
No 363
March 13
For well
over 20 years,
I waited to
go house hunting,
When 2
daughters got married,
This would
be good timing.
We only
looked around two,
The second
was my dream,
I’ve lived
here nearly 40 years,
My dream
it’s always been.
My first
husband went and got new teeth,
We hadn’t
been in the house long,
The new
teeth didn’t fit too well,
He thought
that they were wrong.
The house
was set on three floors,
With quite
a lot of steps,
The night
he got his new teeth,
I really
could have wept.
About four
in the morning,
I could
hear the rain outside,
To my
horror as I left the room,
The “rain”
was all inside.
I just
didn’t know it,
But when
I’d gone to bed,
Because
they really hurt him,
He put them
in the bathroom sink instead.
He had left
the tap running,
The house
was flooded all way through,
Ceilings
and light fittings hanging down,
I didn’t
know just what to do.
My dream
house was like a bomb site,
It nearly
broke my heart,
I just
could not believe it,
Just where
was I to start.
Dust and
plaster everywhere,
It had come
through all three floors,
Thank
goodness the insurance paid up,
Or it could
have been divorce.
